Roocha, a LAB egyik szülőatyja adott kérdéseinkre válaszokat, íme:

1. A saját 'gyermeketekkel', a LAB-el kapcsolatban szeretnélek először kérdezni. Mesélsz egy kicsit róla?

Annak idején mikor elkezdtem DJ-zni, nem gondoltam azt hogy ennyire komplex ez az egész és nem éreztem át hogy mekkora felelősséggel jár az, hogy embereket nevelsz a jó zenére. Így visszanézve úgy érzem, sokat tettem azért hogy a minőségi zene elérjen minél tobb emberhez és örülök annak, hogy akik rendszeresen jártak az estjeinkre már nem keverik össze a minőséget a gagyival… :)
A LAB is mint minden csapat amiben benne voltam úgy indult, hogy szétbomlott egy régi crew és ezzel megszületett egy új, valami színesebb, őszintébb és boldogabb dolog… Ezek mindig hoznak magukkal inspirációt és ez tovább generálódik… ha egy ilyennek a részese vagy akkor arra később mosolyogva emlékszel vissza, akár a pult egyik, akár a másik oldalán állsz.
A LAB három szuper kis emberről szól akiket a barátság és a zene szeretete tart össze. (Ruff Anna, Roland Handrick, Roocha)
Nálunk úgy mennek a dolgok, hogy mindent közösen beszélünk meg és a feladatokból mindenki egyaránt veszi ki a részét… nem félünk magunk közé venni kedvenc és számunkra nagyratartott magyar zenész barátokat, hisz a cél az hogy a lehető legjobb zenét kapja a nagyérdemű. Most ott tartunk, hogy lement az első hat buli és összességében elégedettek vagyunk, hiszen feltöltődtünk és az emberek is akik részt vettek rajta.
Az biztos hogy folytatjuk tovább, mert nem engedhetünk nagyobb teret adni a minőségtelen elektronikának ami most burjánzóban van!
Az a tervünk a jövőre nézve, hogy minél több magyar tehetségnek adjunk teret a LAB-en belül és kívül is.

2. Miért az aethert választottátok a rezidencia helyszínéül?

Mert ez a legjobb hely, csak kár hogy a Gozsduban van… :D

3. Mi alapján válogatjátok a jobbnál jobb vendégelőadóitokat?

Nálunk ez úgy műkodik hogy zeneileg és emberieg is passzoljon az adott személy a koncepcióba.

4. Mesélj a hangzásotokról. Hogyan írnád körül a legjobban?

A LAB inkább mondhatom azt hogy house központú, de nem félünk elmenni mélyebb, technosabb irányokban sem. Ez azért a közönségtol is függ... mi nyitottak vagyunk és ha azt látjuk hogy a közönség is az, akkor élvezzük igazán a bulit...

5. Milyen zenék voltak hatással rátok? Az elektronikus zene mióta része az életeteknek?

99-ben voltam először Mayday-en, Budapesten. Egyedül jöttem fel Pécsről és finoman fogalmazva is nagy hatással volt rám…
Ezek után egyre több elektronikus rendezvényen találtam magam, amik jórész Pesten voltak: Home, Events Hall, Pacha, stb, ezek akkora hatással voltak rám hogy a mai napig szívesen emlékszem vissza… Sajnos ma már nem jellemzik városunkat az ilyen minőségű rendezvények, ennek milliónyi oka van, de ebbe most nem mennék bele.
Én mindnig nagyon széles skálán mozogtam a zenében és ez most is így van. Négy éve voltam először Ozorán és ez az élmény annyira erősre sikeredett, hogy azóta a techno szerelmese lettem! Ez a kapcsolat annyi új lehetőséget rejtett hogy azt éreztem, érdemes vele foglalkozni és ebből indult a Radiozora.fm-en a Natural Selection névre hallgató műsorunk is.
A legszebb az az egészben, ha több ember van ugyabban a flow-ban, mert akkor egymást inspiráljátok körbe-körbe és ez kell ahhoz hogy folyamatosan át tudd adni azt a fajta minőséget amit elképzeltél…
Szóval ezzel csak azt szeretném mondani hogyha valaki teljesen nyitott a zene felé, akkor csodálatos dolgokat fog megélni...

6. Mi mást hallgattok szabadidőtökben?

7. Mit gondoltok, mi a legnagyobb kihívás amivel szembe kell néznie ma Budapesten egy lemezlovasnak?

Önmagával!

8. Melyik zenéket hordjátok legrégebbóta a lemezestáskátokban? :)

Vannak darabok amik sokszor ott vannak a tatyóban, de amikor már több ezer lemezed van… akkor meg kell küzdenie a lemezeknek is egymással, hogy ott lehessenek a buliban. :D

Roocha, one of the parents of LAB, gave answers to our questions:

1. First of all, I would like to ask you about your “children”, LAB. Can you tell us a bit about it?

When I started my Dj career, I did not think that this was so complex and also did not feel the responsibility for bringing people to good music. So looking back, I feel that I have done a lot to get quality music to as many people as possible, and I am glad that those who usually visit our nights are no longer mix quality with poor music. :)

LAB, like any team that I was involved in, started when an old crew breaks up and something new has been created. Something that is more colorful, honest and happier.. These have always brought inspiration and it is further generated.. If you are a part of something like this you will remember it with a smile no matter what side of the desk you are. LAB is about three cool people whom friendship and the love of music keep together. (Anna Ruff, Roland Handrick, Roocha)

We are all discuss everything and not afraid to take in this ride our talented Hungarian friends because the goal is to get the best quality of music for the public. Now our first six events are over, and we are totally satisfied, as we have been fulfilled and the people who participated in it also feel the same. One thing is sure: we will continue, because we cannot give bigger space to low quality music which is now spreading! Our plan for the future is to give more opportunites to talented Hungarians inside and outside LAB.

2. Why did you choose Aether for your residence?

Because this is the best club in town, what a pity that it is in Gozdsu Courtyard..

3. How do you choose your better and better guest artists?

The key to us is to fit the concept both humanly and musically.

4. Tell us about your sound. How would you describe it best?

May I say that Lab is house-oriented, but not afraid to taste deeper techno music. This is also depends on the audience. We are open-minded and if we see that our audience also, we really enjoy the party..

5. What type of music affected you? Since when electronic music is the part of your life?

I was at Mayday held in Budapest in ’99 for the first time. I came alone from Pécs, and -to put it mildly- I was really impressed.
After that, I have found myself in more and more electronic events, mostly in Budapest. Home, Events Hall, Pacha etc. These left their mark on me, I still happily remember back.. These days our city is no longer characterized by high-quality events, and even if there are millions of reasons, I would not go into it.
I have always moved on a very wide scale in music and it is still. Four years ago I was at Ozora Festival for the first time and this experience has been so strong that I am a techno lover since then! This relationship has hidden so many new possibilities that I felt it would be worthwhile to deal with it, and from that we started our radio program named Natural Selection on radiozora.fm.
The most beautiful thing is when there are more people in the same kind of flow, because you are inspiring each other and that's what you need to be able to pass on the kind of quality that you imagined.
So I just want to say that if someone is completely open to music, they will experience wonderful things.

6. What else do you listen in your free time?

7. What do you feel the biggest challenge facing up a DJ today in Budapest?

Itself!

8. What's the track you keep the longest in your dj bag?

There are pieces that are often in your bag, but when you have thousands of disks.. They have to fight with each other to be in the party. :D

1. A kiadóddal kapcsolatban szeretnélek először kérdezni. Mesélsz egy kicsit róla?

Sosem gondoltam arra, hogy saját kiadót szeretnék alapítani. Túl nagy hype-ot érzek a kiadók környékén, ez megcímkézi az előadókat. Ha kiadót alapítasz azt divatból teszed hogy neked is legyen, vagy valóban szeretnéd csinálni? Nem tudom mit mondjak, nagy zavart éreztem ekörül. Sok ember mondja hogy a DJk-nek mindent meg kell tenni, albumokat, kiadványokat, matricákat kell csináltatniuk… aztán úgy gondoltam én csak a zenére fogok koncentrálni, és teret adok a körülöttem lévőknek.

2. Milyen zenék voltak hatással rád? Az elektronikus zene mióta része az életednek?

A zene mindig szerves része volt az életemnek, a kezdetekben szerencsés voltam, mert apám is zenész volt. Őt mindig zenészek vették körül, szerette a bluest, rockot és a jazzt is. Először orgonán játszottam, majd álmodoztam egy Akai-ról és egy Atari-ról… az elektronikus zenével a 90-es években kezdtem foglalkozni. Az első tánczenékben és popban is lehetett érezni már az elektró utóízét.

3. Mi mást szoktál hallgatni a szabadidődben?

Szeretem hallgatni a rádióban a klasszikus csatornát, vagy valami régi népi lemezt, jazz-t, funk-ot… szeretem egybekötni a kedvenc zenéimet ezekkel, és új dolgokat felfedezni. Példaként vagy inspirációként.

4. Mesélj a hangzásodról. Hogyan írnád körül a legjobban?

Egy keveréke különböző elemeknek. Mindent kizárólag analog masinákkal készítek, ezek olyan "tárgyak" amik folyamatosan velem vannak a 90es évek óta, egy Akai950-es sampler, egy Juno106 vagy egy Yamaha DX7-es. Stílusilag nem tudom hova soroljam magam, lehet az house vagy deep house vagy elektronika vagy nu-disco… én inkább sokkal átfogóbbnak írnám le a stílusom, valami olyannak ami nem kifejezetten club zenének készül hanem sokkal inkább mögé mutat ennek az általános elgondolásnak. Mielőtt elkezdtem volna Tuccilo néven djzni Ibizán az első években átéltem a chill out zene berobbanását 2001 körül és sok munkám volt különböző alteregók alatt, valamint kollaboráltam is más előadókkal ebben a stílusban és nagyon szerettem. Sajnos ez a műfaj manapság egy kicsit háttérbe szorult de azt gondolom, hogy nemsokára visszatér valamilyen más formában. Legalábbis nagyon remélem, mert imádok downtempo és ambient számokon dolgozni.

5. Melyik volt a legemlékezetesebb fellépésed?

Azthiszem a legjobb időszakom 2007-8-9 körül volt… akkor kezdtem el a nagyob ibizai klubbokban zenélni, először a Space-ben, aztán a Pacha-ban, ekkor jött el a pillanat amikor másképp kezdtem el nézni a zenére, és máshogy is csináltam ezután. Ezúttal is köszönöm a DC10 csapatának, Tato-nak, Tania Vulcano-nak és az Isgud labelnek. Nagyon kellemes ugyanakkor intenzív pillanatok voltak ezek, rengeteget utaztam. Nagyon sok jó embert ismertem meg, például Tomoki Tamura-t is, vele rengeteg szép emlékem van… Fabric London, Watergate, Sankeys Manchester, vagy a legutolsó alkalomkor Womb Tokyo. Vele van egy közös projektünk is. Hiszek abban, hogyha nem gondolkozol sokat a dolgokon, akkor egyszer bekövetkeznek. Mindig felejts el mennyi facebook követőd van… :D

6. Mi a legnagyobb célod mint DJ, producer?

Az utolsó célom az volt hogy visszatérhessek Budapestre, az egyik kedvenc városomba… gyönyörű! Producerként kollaborálni az egyik kedvencemmel, Satoshi Tomie-val. Úgy döntöttem a közelmúltban hogy Valencia-ban töltök egy telet, ezzel javítva a produktivitásomon… sokkal jobban megy itt a munka mint más városokban. Itt készült az első EP-m, és itt fejezem be az éppen aktuális projekteket is az Unblock-hoz.

7. Milyen mai DJ-re vagy producerre nézel fel? Van olyan aki befolyásol?

Ez a legnehezebb kérdés számomra, őszintén kicsit el vagyok veszve a mai modern jelenségekben… látok sok lemezt “AAA, XXX, TTT CCC PPP” elnevezésekkel… nem egyszerű megmondani kik ezek. Ha neveket kell említsek akkor biztosan szeretem Djebali-t, Tato Isgud-ot, John Dimas-t...

8. Milyen munkafolyamat jellemez?

Stúdiózom állandóan. Mostanában egy új projekten dolgozom pár jó baráttal, Dj Pippi-vel és Mr. Few-el. Mindketten másféle világból jöttek mint én. Nemsokára befejezzük ezt az albumot, utána újat szeretnék kezdeni, downtempó és lounge koncepcióban. Keresünk új zenészeket, énekeseket, próbálunk újfajta képletet összeállítani a műfajban. Ugyanakkor van sok kiadványom lemezen is, például az új Unblock, vagy a The ray EP amit Satoshi Tomie-val készítettünk.

9. Mit gondolsz, mi a legnagyobb kihívás amivel szembe kell néznie a mai DJ-knek és producereknek?

Hogy ne a Facebook számok szerinti képmutatás legyen a legfontosabb, hogy ne a managereink stratégiáján alapulva alkossunk, és a tehetséged számítson csak. Én csak azt tudom mondani, hogy egy producer nem egy termék, hanem ő állítja elő a terméket… jó zenét. Csinálj jó zenét, játssz jó zenét és minden jön magától! :D

10. Hol élsz most, és mit gondolsz az ottani party szcénáról?

Valencia, Ibiza, Berlin, Nápoly, Madrid és Barcelona között ingázom. Családi, baráti, zenei és szerelmi okokból. Legfőképp Valencia-t érzem otthonomnak, és arra fele jó a szcéna. Sok feltörekvő tehetség, sok új klubb, nem nevezném meg őket, de nagyjából az összes jó… :D

11. Hogyan telik egy heted?

Általában a stúdiómban vagyok, dolgozom, vagy otthon a természet közelében. Imádok a természet közelében lenni, és ezzel egy időben a zenével is. Távol lakom a várostól, szeretnék messze lenni a zajától. Hétvégén a fellépésekkor ez változik… :)

12. Rengeteget utazol. Mi a titkod a turnézás túlélésére?

A titok annyi, hogy amikor nem utazom próbálok egészséges életmódot folytatni. Egészséges étkezés, mozgás… amikor zenélek és utazom akkor pedig az ellenkezője… :)

13. Melyik zenét hordod legrégebbóta a lemezestáskádban, melyik zenét játszod a legtöbbet?

Egy igazi klasszikus kérdés :D, egy régebbi zeném a “Mathematic” 2020vision… egy klasszikus Tucci house jam, mindig működik...

1. I want to start by asking about your label Unblock. Can you tell us a bit about it?

I never thought of wanting to direct a label, I have always been of the idea that a label was formed of a large number of people and that the producer had to produce the dj put music and other people direct labels .. Everything .. and if I have a label .. will it be fashion or necessity? I do not know what to tell you, I felt it in a moment of great confusion. Of a large number of people who say that djs have to do everything .. albums, records, sell hats or stickers .. then I decided to do something thinking only to the music .. and to give space to those around me ..

2. Where do your influences come from? Was electronic music prominent when you were growing up?

Was the music in general, initially I was lucky that my father was musician and always surrounded by musicians, he was a lover of blues rock and jazz, so began to listen to music and play a hammond per game and then dream of An akai and an atari to sequence things, and there came the electronic the principles of the 90s .. the first dance music and also the pop music had an electronic aftertaste always in time with the fashions ... in the 90 was the boom of the House music and techno..alli dream about everything ..

3. What else do you listen to in your spare time?

I really love listen the radio classic music channell , or some old vinyl of ethnic music , jazz, funk ,.. I like to disconnect from music with another type of music that I do .. and to discover new things... for sample it or take inspiration :D

4. So tell me about your sound. How would you describe it best?

MY sound defines a mix of elements. Especially everything cooked with analog machines ,with objects that since the 90s I have with me without stopping using as sampler akai950 or juno106 or dx7 yahama ... About music style I do not know what to label my sound, whether it is house or deep House or electronic or nu-disco .. I would like to define myself more global and that goes beyond the standard of thinking about making music only for clubs before starting as tuccillo and djing, in the first years in the island of ibiza 2001..he Lived the boom of chil out music, where I did a great number of works for that concept under many akas or collaborations .. was great. That today a little has been lost. And I think that soon it will return of another form .. I hope it .. I like very to do downtempo or ambient music

5. What's been your biggest moment in electronic music to date?

I guess the best time was around 2007-8-9 ... when I started working in big clubs in ibiza as starting in space, then pacha, at the same time I came the moment that changed the way to make me see club music and That made me change the way to produce music house and was Pandemonium in Dc10, especially thanks to Tato, Tania Vulcano and the label Isgud..it was a very pleasant moment at the same time intense, I travel a lot these years .. but for the moment I have had another Great pleasure to meet people like Tomoki Tamura where we have shared many good moments also in Fabric london, watergate, sankeys manchester or one of the last in Womb Tokyo. With the Doublet project that we share in aka ... I still believe that if you do music without thinking about places or goals, things arrive ... always forgetting the facebook numbers you have ..: D

6. What's your ultimate goal as a DJ and producer?

My last goal as a DJ is to be able to return to Budapest, one of my favorite cities ... beautiful! As producer has been to collaborate recently with one of my heros, Satoshi Tomie .. where I visit a few days in Valencia, where I recently decided to mount the studio and spend the winter, has been a step to improve the productive phase, and I feel better connected with other cities .. I have also been able to mount in just 1 year that I have here, my first LP, where I calmly have been able to rescue projects started many years ago and other acts and mezcalro all .. LP would lick A Part of 20 and will be in June in my label ..unblock .. this is a great goal :)

7. What modern DJs and producers do you look up to? Who or what influences your sound the most?

This question is the most difficult for me , I'm sincere I'm a little lost today with the modern phenomena , I see many vinyls that are called "AAA ,XXX , TTT CCC PPP", .. it's not easy to know who they are: D, but if I have to Give names, I certainly love Djebali, Tato Isgud, Tijin , Dimas and many more.....

8. Whats your workflow, how your studio look like at the moment?

Studio Time all Time :D ,Just today I am working on a new project with a few dear friends, Dj Pippi & Mr Few, both coming from different worlds from mine. As the album finishes recently and also always electronic projects ... in this case we are resuming the concept of downtempo, lounge music. Ambient And we are now recording musicians, vocalists and trying to find a new formula for this genre ... at the same time I have a few releases on vinyl music more club about to leave .. like my LP in unblock or The ray ep with Satoshi Tomie in Holic .. or the collaboration Doubet with Tomoki ..

9. What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing up and coming DJs and producers in this day and age?

To the hypocrisy of the image and the numbers of facebook, to the strategies of managers, that render a talent in a product. I only say , producer is not a product, he makes products .. Good products ... do good music, play good music, everything comes :)

10. Where are you living now and what do you think about the party scene there?

I live between Valencia, Ibiza, Berlin, Napoli, Madrid and Barcelona, for reasons of family, friends, partners in projects of music and love, it would not be easy to talk about the musical scene of each one ... but I spend more time in Valencia for I study and I think that here is a good scene .. of new talents and also new clubs .. I prefer not to make names to not offend those that I forget .. are several and are very good: D

11. What's your weekly routine?

My weeks are based in studio, production, and in my new home, full of nature. I love being in contact with nature and at the same time with the music, I live far from the city, I prefer to have more relation with natural sounds of Environments that of urban noises, and well the end of weeks if gigs arrive, the thing changes, for a good party.

12. What's your secret surviving the touring lifestyle?

The secret is to maintain during the time you do not travel a good lifestyle, eat healthy, make movement, well, the opposite of when you travel and do djing. :)

13. What's the track you keep the longest in your dj bag, what's the track you play the most?

The good classic question: D, the track i play from i made it is "Mathematic" on 2020vision... is a classic tucci house jam = .. always works

Az Overall Music atyját és Vatos Locos tagját Javier Carballo-t kérdeztük...

1. A kiadóddal kapcsolatban szeretnélek először kérdezni. Mesélsz egy kicsit róla?

Az Overall Music-ot 5 éve hoztuk létre egy jó barátommal, Hanfry Martinez-el. A Kanári-szigeteken nem voltak kiadók, ezért döntöttünk úgy hogy alapítunk egyet. A kiadó ezáltal megmutatja a világnak a sziget zenéit. Kanári tehetségekkel kezdtük, és kollaboráltunk olyan nevekkel mint Djebali, Franck Roger, Hector és Maya Jane Coles… 3 évig csak digitálisan működtünk, ezután gondoltuk hogy vinyl formátumra váltunk. Ez volt a legjobb ötlet ami csak eszünkbe juthatott, hiszen óriási siker lett, és olyan művészek nevei sorakoznak nálunk mint John Dimas, Guti, Livio & Roby, Mp, Lopaski, IO Mulen, és még sokan mások.

2. A Vatos Locos-hoz is köthető a neved. Körül tudnád írni ezt a különleges stylet?

Igen! A Vatos Locos-t Hector alapította, és olyan nekünk mint a család. Rengeteg barátját vonta bele, embereket a világ minden tájáról akik nagyon tehetségesek. Olyan DJ-k és producerek akik egyformán vagy hasonlóan gondolkoznak a zenéről és az életről.
Ebben a pillanatban a legizgalmasabb kiadó a legjobb megjelenésekkel, és még sok tervünk van...

3. Honnan jött a budapesti rezidencia ötlete?

A Vatos Locos egy globális elképzelés. A világ legkülönbözöbb helyszínein is jelen vagyunk, Miami, Playa del carmen, Tenerife, Barcelona, Ibiza, Párizs és Berlin… de ezelőtt Magyarország környékén sem jártunk. Vannak jó barátaink itt mint Polarize és Pepe, valamint hallottuk hogy a városban erős a clubszcéna, és a részesei akarunk lenni.

4. Milyen zenék voltak hatással rád? Az elektronikus zene mióta része az életednek?

Először funk-ot és disco-t hallgattam apukám és a családom által. Michael Jackson és zenéi is nagy hatással voltak rám. A 90-es években mikor még csak 14 voltam kezdtem el felfedezni a techno és house zenét az unokatestvérem által, és igyekeztem minden lehetséges elektronikus zenét meghallgatni amit csak tudtam. House, techno, drum&bass, balearic, breakbeat, progressive… tulajdonképpen nem értem a stílusokat… számomra az összes ugyanolyan zene. Pár évvel később fedeztem fel olyan előadókat mint Francois Kevorkian, Dj Hype, Orbital, Pepe Bradrock, Todd Terry és ezekután értettem meg mi is az elektronikus zene.

5. Mi mást szoktál hallgatni a szabadidődben?

Mindenféle zenét szeretek a salsá-tól a rock-ig de a hip-hop-ot és az új elektronikus együtteseket is kedvelem. Szeretek felfedezni új előadókat akiknek friss ötleteik vannak stílustól függetlenül.

6. Mesélj a hangzásodról. Hogyan írnád körül a legjobban?

A klasszikus, valamint a modern house és techno között szlalomozik.

7. Melyik volt a legemlékezetesebb fellépésed?

Karrierem során rengeteg fontos pillanatom volt, de azthiszem amikor először külföldön játszottam 15 éve a zürichi Club Q-ban. Emlékezetes volt az első Fabric-es fellépésem, valamint Berlinbe költözésem után egy Watergate-es buli is.

8. Mi a legnagyobb célod mint DJ, producer?

Csak megszeretném osztani a zene iránt érzett szenvedélyem az emberekkel, semmi több.

9. Milyen mai DJ-re vagy producerre nézel fel? Van olyan aki befolyásol?

Jelenleg a kedvenceim Mandar (Lazare Hoche, S.A.M., Maline Génie), Barac, Baby Ford, Livio & Roby és még sokan mások. Hatással van rám minden művész akiket eddig hallgattam, Roni Size, Model 500, Maurizio, H-Foundation, DubTribe Sound System és Tenaglia… csak hogy pár nevet említsek.

10. Milyen munkafolyamat jellemez?

Jelenleg rengeteg új projekten dolgozunk a barátaimmal Hanfry Martinez-el és Carlos Sanchez-el, hamarosan lesznek új megjelenéseink a Drumma-n és Overall Music-on. Tervben van új EP a Vatos Locos-al, Black Wood-al, de lesz egy válogatás a Decay records-on és az Opulence-n is.

11. Mit gondolsz, mi a legnagyobb kihívás amivel szembe kell néznie a mai DJ-knek és producereknek?

A legnagyobb kihívást az jelenti, hogy önmagad maradj a zenében. Manapság mindenki DJ vagy producer akar lenni, és nagyon könnyen elveszítheted magad az egoista, szegényes kreativitás, minőségtelenség világában, ahol nem a zene hanem a hírnév és a pénz a lényeg.

12. Hol élsz most, és mit gondolsz az ottani party szcénáról?

Négy éve ingázom Gran Canaria és Európa közt, de Gran Canaria-ban ahol felnőttem nem túl nagy ám annál biztosabb a szcéna. Van egy pár club és esemény nemzetközi fellépőkkel, ilyen például a Mood Club, Sound Gardens, Escana, de vannak fesztiválok is például a Madzoo vagy a Sunblast. Rezidensként és promoterként 20 éve tevékenykedem, és találkoztam rengeteg tehetséges művésszel, sok szép pillanatunk volt.

13. Hogyan telik egy heted?

Semmi extra, általában 8:30-kor kelek, megiszom egy juicet, kávézom, edzek és utána beülök a stúdiómba, dolgozom egészen a hétvégéig, amikor is minden megváltozik… ;)

14. Rengeteget utazol. Mi a titkod a turnézás túlélésére?

Nincs titkom, próbálok rendesen étkezni, aludni és mosolyogni amennyit csak tudok.

15. Melyik zenét hordod legrégebbóta a lemezestáskádban, melyik zenét játszod a legtöbbet?

Circulation - Crimson… 17 éve a lemeztáskámban.

We asked the Overall Music's head Javier Carballo...

1. I want to start by asking about your label Overall Music. Can you tell us a bit about it?

Overall Music was created 5 years ago with my good friend Hanfry Martinez. In Canary Islands we didn't have any platforms or labels, for this reason we decided open a label. A label that showed to world the electronic music from our island. We started with canarian talents and with collaborations of international artists like Djebali, Franck Roger, Hector, Maya Jane Coles... After 3 years working on digital we decided go to the vinyl market and start Overall Music Limited and it was the best we could do, in 2 years we grow up and put the name of the label in good position with big reelase of great artists like John Dimas, Guti, Livio & Roby, Mp, Lopaski, IO (Mulen) etc.

2. You're a part of Vatos Locos too. Can you describe this specific VL style?

Yessss! Vatos Locos was created by Hector like a family, he involve a lot of his friends, people that he knews in different parts of the world, with a special talent for the music like producers and djs that have the same or similar music and life philosophy.
In this moment is one of the most exciting labels with great music released and many things coming.

3. Where is this idea came from to start residency in Budapest?

Vatos Locos is a global idea. We have a lot of appearances in different parts of the world, Miami, Playa del carmen, Tenerife, Barcelona, Ibiza, Paris, Berlin... but never before in Hungary or countries around. We have good friends like Pola o Pepe in the city and we know the city has a good club scene and we want to be part of it.

4. Where do your influences come from? Was electronic music prominent when you were growing up?

I started to listen funk and disco from my father and family. Michael Jackson and his sound was like a revelation for me. In 90's with only 14 years old I discovered the house music and techno from the hand of my cousin and I became to listen all electronic music that I could. House, techno, Drum&Bass, Break Beat, Balearic, Progressive... Actually I don´t understand styles, for me all is music, after some years i discovered artists like Francois Kevorkian, Dj Hype, Orbital, Pepe Bradock, Todd Terry and in that moment was when I understood what was the electronic dance music.

5. What else do you listen to in your spare time?

I like all types of good music, from salsa to rock, Hip- Hop, and new electronics bands. I like to find new artists with fresh ideas in different styles.

6. So tell me about your sound. How would you describe it best?

My sound is a mix of house and techno in a balance beetween the classic and the modern. Music without complexes for Body, Soul and Mind!

7. What’s been your biggest moment in electronic music to date?

In my career I've had many importants moments but i think the first time I played out of my country 15 years ago in Club Q Zurich, the first time I played in Fabric London and when I moved to Berlin and after 3 months without gigs I played in Watergate.
Definitely they were my best times.

8. What’s your ultimate goal as a DJ and producer?

I only want to live and share my passion with the people, nothing else.

9. What modern DJs and producers do you look up to? Who or what influences your sound the most?

In this moment i like so much Mandar, (Lazare Hoche, S.A.M, Maline Genie), Barac, Baby Ford, Livio & Roby etc. I have influences of all artists i´ve listened in all my life , Roni Size, Model 500, Maurizio, H-Foundation, DubTribe Sound System, Tenaglia for name a few of them.

10. Whats your workflow?

In this moment i'm working a lot in some new projects with my mates Hanfry Martinez and Carlos Sanchez, and are coming some remixes for Drumma, Overall Music , New eps for Vatos Locos, Black wood and some V.A artists in Decay and Opulence.

11. What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing up and coming DJs and producers in this day and age?

I think the biggest challenge in these days for the underground artists is the boom of the electronic music. All people want to be a dj or release music, and is very easy lose you in a world of egos, poor creativity and low quality music, where the important is not the music just the fame or money.

12. Where are you living now and what do you think about the party scene there?

I've been living between Gran Canaria and Europe since 4 years, but is in Gran Canaria where has grown up a small but solid scene. Actually there is some clubs and events with international artists and interesting offers like Mood Club, Sound Gardens or Escena and festivals Like Madzoo or Sunblast with top artists... I've been playing like resident or promoter in the island since 20 years and in these years I've met a lot of artists and share them good moments playing and dancing.

13. What's your weekly routine?

My routine is so normal, I wake up at 8.30 in the morning, take my Juice, some coffee, gym, and 10.30 I usually sit in my study and start to work in my music till the weekend when everything change ;)

14. What's your secret surviving the touring lifestyle?

I don't have a secret, the only one is try to eat good, sleep the most time you can and smile

15. What's the track you keep the longest in your dj bag, what's the track you play the most?

Circulation - Crimson. 17 years always in the bag.

A Budapestre többszörösen visszatérő jazzy house/techno producert Cesar Merveille-t kérdeztük.

1. A kiadóddal kapcsolatban szeretnélek először kérdezni. Mesélsz egy kicsit róla?

A kiadót tavaly indítottuk egy régi barátommal, Thomas Goetz-el. Eddig három kiadványunk jelent meg, mindegyik C.S.R néven. Az egyik lemezen Sam O’Sommen (Masomenos) is közreműködött.

Ez egy családi ügy, ezért megpróbálunk minél függetlenebbek maradni, és csak olyan kiadványokat megjelentetni ami nekünk tetszik. A disztribúciót az Off The Grid kezeli, melyet egy barátom csinál akit több mint tíz éve ismerek.

2. Milyen zenék voltak hatással rád? Az elektronikus zene mióta része az életednek?

Főleg rock, pop, és jazz zenét hallgattam. Nagy kedvencem a Beatles, a Pink Floyd és Petruciani. Apukámnak rengeteg jazz lemeze volt, melyeket állandóan hallgattunk, de az elektronikus zene ezekben az időkben kimaradt.

3. Mi mást szoktál hallgatni a szabadidődben?

Mindenfélét a jazz-től kezdve, ambient-en, funk-on át a klasszikus zenéig. Szeretek minél többféle zenét hallgatni, az inspiráció bárhonnan jöhet.

4. Mesélj a hangzásodról. Hogyan írnád körül a legjobban?

Folyamatosan írom az új zenéket, igyekszem fejlődni és nem leragadni egyféle hangzásnál. Addig dolgozom egy zenén, ameddig azt tökéletesnek nem hallom minden egyes alkalommal. Emellett kísérletezek több féle stílussal is. Most éppen Ryan Crosson-al készülök befejezni egy albumot, ami sokkal eltérőbb lesz az eddigiektől.

5. Melyik volt a legemlékezetesebb fellépésed?

Azt hiszem a 29. születésnapom Londonban. Lo-Kee-vel szerveztük, és éppen rengeteg barátom volt Londonban, egy olyan line up-ot sikerült összehoznunk ahol Shaun Reeves, Maayan Nidam, Ryan Crosson, Dyed Soundorom, dOP live, Craig Richards b2b Seth Troxler (ők itt találkoztak először azt hiszem), és Wolf and Lamb is zenéltek. Nagyon zsúfolt és meleg volt a helyen, egy cigarettát sem tudtál meggyújtani, de nem számított olyan zenei utazásokban volt részünk. Úgy hiszem itt életre szóló barátságok köttettek.

6. Mi a legnagyobb célod mint DJ, producer?

Ez egy folyamatos kihívást jelent számomra, nincs végső cél. A lényeg hogy közben annyira jól szórakozzak én is és a körülöttem lévő emberek is, amennyire csak lehet.

7. Milyen mai DJ-re vagy producerre nézel fel? Van olyan aki befolyásol?

Nagyon sok tehetséges producert tudnék felsorolni napjainkból. Akiket kiemelnék, Alex&Digby, nekik nagyon különleges és egyedi hangzásuk van.

8. Milyen munkafolyamat jellemez? Hogy néz ki jelenleg a stúdiód?

Jelenleg a stúdióm analóg és moduláris szintikből, és dobgépekből áll. Mindent élőben rögzítek egy keverőn keresztül, és aztán számítógépen editálom.

9. Mit gondolsz, mi a legnagyobb kihívás amivel szembe kell néznie a mai DJ-knek és producereknek?

Manapság mindenki számára elérhetőek a felszerelések és szoftverek, ezáltal bárki képes alkotni. Az igazi kihívást a zenében való önmagad megtalálása jelenti, illetve hogy valami újat, különlegeset alkoss.

10. Hol élsz most, és mit gondolsz az ottani party szcénáról?

Jelenleg Berlinben élek, és nagyon szeretem. Itt az emberek képben vannak ezzel a stílussal, és sokat várnak a DJ-ktől. Mindig magasra teszik a mércét. Nem csak az óriás nevekről szól minden, a közönség teret ad a tehetséges feltörekvő Dj-k számára is. Rengeteg barátom él itt, ezért is olyan jó számomra a vibe.

11. Hogyan telik egy heted?

Stúdiózás, alvás, ismétlés. Sokszor kimozdulok hogy felfrissítsem magam, majd újra vissza a stúdióba. Ide általában meghívom a barátaimat, szeretem látni a reakcióikat mikor megmutatom nekik mit alkottam. Van egy kedvenc helyem Berlinben, ahol nagyon finom borokat árulnak. Sokat vagyok ott.

12. Rengeteget utazol. Mi a titkod a turnézás túlélésére?

Amennyire nehéznek tűnik néha, annyira szeretem a zenét és a barátaimat akikkel találkozom ilyenkor szerte a világban.

13. Melyik zenét hordod legrégebbóta a lemezestáskádban, melyik zenét játszod a legtöbbet?

Erre mindig nehéz választ adnom, de talán Gemini - At That Cafe lemeze az, melyet legrégebb óta hordok magamnál.

We asked the returning jazzy house/techno producer Cesar Merveille.

I want to start by asking about your label Roche Madame. Can you tell us a bit about it?

I started Roche Madame last year with my long-time friend Thomas Goetz. We are three releases in, all music under C.S.R so far, one being a collaboration with Masomenos (as Sam O’Sommen)

It’s a family affair, we don’t use P&D in order to be as independent as possible, releasing only what we like. The distribution is handled by Off The Grid, run by a friend who I have known for over 10 years.

2. Where do your influences come from? Was electronic music prominent when you were growing up?

I grew up mainly listening to rock, pop and jazz from the Beatles to Pink Floyd passing by Petruciani. My Dad had a jazz-fusion label with his own his set-up in my bedroom. But we were not listening to electronic music particularly.

3. What else do you listen to in your spare time?

All sorts from jazz, ambient, cuban music, funk and classical. I like to listen to a great variety of music, inspiration can come from anywhere.

4. So tell me about your sound. How would you describe it best?

A constant work in progress, I try to evolve, not getting stuck repeating the same tricks. It’s a lot about jamming on a few tracks, keeping the good ones as opposed to trying to make the perfect track each time. I also explore a lot of different styles. I'm just finishing an album with Ryan Crosson that’s all modular alongside recorded musicians, no kicks something, it was meant to be something more adventurous and musical.

5. What’s been your biggest moment in electronic music to date?

I guess it was my 29th birthday party back in London. We organised it with Lo-Kee and a lot of friends happened to be in the UK so we had a crazy line up with Shaun Reeves, Maayan Nidam, Ryan Crosson, Dyed Soundorom, dOP playing live, Craig Richards b2b Seth troxler (the first time they met i belive) and Wolf and Lamb! All long time friends or soon to be close friends for those who met each other then.

It was so hot and sweaty you couldn't even light a cigarette but it didn't matter because the vibe, the musical journey and the friends gathered made this day and night party ultra-special.

6. What’s your ultimate goal as a DJ and producer?

Just keep on challenging myself and the people around me, whilst having as much fun as possible.

8. What modern DJs and producers do you look up to? Who or what influences your sound the most?

There’s a lot of very talented producers out there nowadays. I think Alex and Digby have a very special and unique sound. Their forthcoming album is really interesting, both musically and sonically.

9. Whats your workflow, how your studio look like at the moment?

My studio is a mix of modulars, analog synths and drum machines. Everything is recorded live through the mixer and edited in the box afterward.

10. What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing up and coming DJs and producers in this day and age?

Nowdays we have an incredible access to gear or software, which means everybody can potentially make music. The real challenge is to find your own voice and sound, something that sets you apart from the rest.

11. Where are you living now and what do you think about the party scene there?

I live in Berlin and the party scene is great here, people know their music and expect a lot from DJs. It’s not all about the big names, the residents here are really talented whilst the crowd is patient but with high expectations. There’s a lot of friends around, which makes the vibe really cosy.

12. What's your weekly routine?

Studio, eat, sleep, repeat! A little ride around to refresh the brain, then back at it. I like having people drop by the studio for jams, it’s always a fun process. I also drop by wild things, a bar/restaurant that only serves natural wines and has a mezcal bar in the back. One of my favourite places in Berlin!

13. What's your secret surviving the touring lifestyle?

As challenging as it can be sometimes, I just love the music and meeting my friends around the world, so I always feed off of that to keep going!

15. What's the track you keep the longest in your dj bag, what's the track you play the most?

It’s always hard to pick one but I guess Gemini - At That Cafe is one of the records that has stayed in my bag the most.
